ICMA Annual Conference

Technology-Driven, Passenger-Centered Transportation Solutions

2022 marks the fifth year that TMS has provided event transportation for the annual conference of the International City/ County Management Association (ICMA) — the world’s leading association of local government professionals. The 2022 ICMA Annual Conference is a five-day event in Columbus, Ohio.

  • Location of Project:

Multiple U.S. Cities (Columbus, Ohio in 2022)

  • Work Performed:

Development of transportation and delivery of transportation services for a five-day leadership and professional development conference

  • Participation:

Official transportation provider for the ICMA Annual Conference

OPERATIONAL OVERVIEW

Every year, TMS works with ICMA to plan and execute transportation services for the organization’s annual conference, which takes place in different cities across the U.S., including Baltimore, Portland, Nashville, and Columbus. TMS develops in-depth knowledge about each city where the conference takes place and partners with local bus vendors to provide exceptional service.

TMS manages all transportation for conference attendees, establishing shuttle routes between hotels and on-site and off-site events, and offering tailored transportation for leadership groups and tours. TMS provides cost-effective technology solutions that drive efficiency and enhance the passenger experience, such as Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) technology to give the client full fleet visibility, and the NEXT RIDE app that attendees can use to track when the next bus will arrive.

If problems arise during the conference, TMS’ team is also on-site to troubleshoot them. For example, one of the events for the 2021 conference happened at the same time as the Portland marathon. Several streets across the river were unexpectedly shut down, affecting the hotel shuttle pickups and route service. TMS quickly found solutions to provide service by planning an alternate shuttle route, adjusting the times and informing attendees about the changes a day in advance.

A major part of our decision to continue working with TMS is the unique technology solutions they offer. We’ve worked with them in the past, they know our membership, and we trust them with our event. On top of that, they invest in new technology like NEXT RIDE to stay ahead of the game and provide things that other companies just don’t.
