Pete Kirschner joins TMS as the Senior Director of Business Development and Strategic Initiatives, bringing a wealth of experience from all facets of the live events industry. Throughout his career, Pete has consistently devised creative solutions to complex client challenges, skillfully coordinating resources to deliver best-in-class experiences. Pete understands the nuance challenges facing event organizers, their host city partners and the venues, who collectively come together to provide unforgettable moments for their community.
Prior to joining TMS, Pete was an integral member of the Events DC Sports & Entertainment Division, working closely with the CEO to establish the Business Development department. Under his leadership, the department attracted more than 22 annual events and generated in excess of $200M in economic impact for the nation’s capital. Pete led the efforts to bring together a coalition of sports venue executives, entertainment venue owners, federal agencies, and elected officials to attract world class events to Washington, DC. Pete worked with some of the most prestigious global brands including FIFA, National Football League, World Rugby, USA Basketball, NCAA, USA Soccer, New Zealand All Blacks, Major League Soccer, Red Bull, Premier Lacrosse League, Parrel Williams’ Something in the Water music festival, USA Rugby, Atlantic-10, Coastal Athletic Association, Savannah Bananas, Army-Navy Game and many more.
Prior to starting the Business Development department for Events DC Sports & Entertainment, Pete served as the Director of Communications and Marketing where he generated significant media attention and public awareness for the activity that Events DC produced, hosted within their venues and partnered with to take place in DC. Additionally, he led the community engagement efforts to obtain support for the construction of one of the first dedicated WNBA venues in the country.
Before Events DC, Pete worked in college athletics first at Georgetown University as Director of Athletics Marketing and then at Fairfield University as Assistant Athletics Director of External Affairs. At both universities, Pete set record attendance and ticket sales at men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s soccer and other Olympics sports. While at Fairfield University, Pete was a critical member of the leadership team responsible for opening a newly constructed lacrosse stadium on campus.
Pete resides in Arlington, VA with his two daughters, Emma and Maya, and wife Sara. He volunteers his time as an adjunct professor in the Georgetown University School of Continuing Studies Sports Information Management program and as a valuable board member for Special Olympics DC.
